About Us

Ronbot was borne from an idea of Sean Ronnan and his involvement within the renewable and energy efficiency industry.

Having multi-million pound contracts with various Utilities to improve the homes of those in fuel poverty via insulation, solar PV, boilers and ASHP then to undertake compliance for those contractors undertaking the actual installation, Sean realised it’s not just about making homes more energy efficient, it’s about people being aware and accountable of their energy consumption. With the significant uptake of homeowners installing their own ‘smart meters’ at a minimal cost for a relatively small saving, the vision is to have the same ethos in the commercial sector rather than private sector.

Implementation

The implementation of the Ronbot Energy Management System (REMS) as it’s fully automated and connects and controls high usage devices to get the best saving with minimal hassle can assist a business in the following ways:

Direct savings on energy consumption

Once energy consumption has been monitored/reviewed, a baseline figure is set as to the ‘average’ energy consumption levels currently used to maintain the business functionality. The level of interaction picked by the business will have a correlation on the savings opportunities for energy consumption.

Provision of information, Monitoring and Proactive actions (‘Connect & Control’). This level of interaction between REMS and the Business is automated by a fully qualified (IPMVP) energy expert having direct contact with the energy panel. The setting of heating and cooling, the turning off of power (if left on in error), the turning on of power without personnel needing to be in the building etc can all maximise the energy consumption within a business. This would provide the most effective way to make sure the business is operating as efficiently as possible and all energy expenditure is accounted for.

Mandatory energy report and Tendering

Some countries across Europe are now requesting as a mandatory stipulation, an energy report as part of their filed accounts. This is the same with cross border trading as some businesses in Europe are requesting their supply partners to produce this document even if their supply partner is based in the UK.
Also, there is an increase in the Tender process for questions of ‘What is your business doing to reduce your carbon footprint?’. Having REMS will assist in providing a positive answer.

Reduction of Tax/Levy

Environmental taxes encourage a business to operate in a more environmentally friendly way. There are taxes and schemes for different types and size of business. Tax reliefs or exemptions can be provided if:
you use a lot of energy because of the nature of your business
you’re a small business that does not use much energy
you buy energy-efficient technology for your business which REMS is.
A business can pay less tax by applying for schemes to help demonstrate they are operating more efficiently and producing waste that’s less damaging e.g A reduction can be achieved on the main rates of Climate Change Levy if a Business is an energy intensive business and has entered into a climate change agreement with the Environment Agency.
Energy intensive businesses can get the following reductions:
92% reduction for electricity
86% reduction for gas
77% reduction for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)
86% reduction for coal and other solid fossil fuels
Electricity (£ per kilowatt hour (kWh) 0.00775 Gas (£ per kWh) 0.00775

Confirmation of existing utilities bills

Most businesses simply accept the Utility bills as being correct. With the ability to receive the information direct from the meters via REMS, a business can compare the readings. This provides the business an opportunity to confirm the energy bills are correct and/or notify the Utilities what the exact usage is rather than paying an ‘estimated’ bill. From this information, further dialogue can be made with the Utilities to review the Available Supply Capacity and any penalties (Tax/Levy) incurred.

7

Assessment of current useage

Following on from the confirmation of existing Utility bills, the Business may be incurring penalties or levies based on current usage or estimated usage. The setting of a realistic Available Supply Capacity can only be made once energy has been monitored. The knowledge of current usage would be pivotal to reviewing tariffs etc.

7

Preventative actions for machinery

With the monitoring of energy usage, a gradual increase or spike can be caused by machinery becoming less efficient or breaking. Rather than waiting for the machine to break which could have a significant impact on a business, any increase in the energy usage of the machine could allow for preventative maintenance. Once again, this would have a positive fiscal impact on the business.

Reduction of Carbon footprint and more environmentally friendly

Some businesses may only be interested in the fiscal aspect of REMS but there are also the environmental considerations.
More and more businesses are wanting to reduce their carbon footprint and become more environmentally friendly. As per the reasons above, REMS is a cost effective way to achieve this.
